In early 2025, the Coeur d’Alene General Services/Public Works Committee approved a realignment of a segment of the North Idaho Centennial Trail. This adjustment is part of the Interstate 90 widening project between Highway 41 and U.S. 95, necessitating the rerouting of a short section of the trail to accommodate stormwater management infrastructure. The realignment aims to ensure the trail’s continuity and safety amid the highway expansion.
Additionally, the city of Post Falls has applied for a $390,000 grant to reconstruct the initial two miles of the trail from the Washington/Idaho border east into Post Falls.
